The division’s two companies, Böhler Schmiedetechnik GmbH & Co KG in Kapfenberg (Austria) and Buderus Edelstahl Schmiedetechnik GmbH in Wetzlar (Germany), produce forged parts that are sold throughout the world. The most important customer markets are located in Europe, the USA and Asia.

The customers of the Special Forgings Division include all major aircraft manufacturers, the producers of business jets, regional jets and helicopters as well as jet engine producers. Forged components are also produced for the manufacturers of steam turbines and stationary gas turbines, shipbuilders, utility vehicle and agricultural machinery manufacturers, general machinery and construction sectors as well as customers in the mining and railway industries.

The division is the world leader for medium-sized structural components (landing flaps, engine hanger fixtures etc.) for aircrafts as well as precision-forged turbine blades for energy generation.
