The Special Forgings Division produces closed die forged components made of titanium and nickel-based alloys as well as high-, medium- and low-alloy steels. Its high-quality product line comprises:

  • Structural parts and jet engine disks for the aircraft industry
  • Turbine blades for power generation
  • Engine and axle components for the utility vehicle industry
  • Special forged components for marine diesel engines, machinery and plant construction and other selected applications

The core aggregates for the production of forged components are the world’s two largest screw presses, which have an impact force of 35,500 and 31,500 tons, respectively, and are located at the Kapfenberg site as well as two fully automated extrusion lines at the Wetzlar site with 8,000 and 10,000 tons of extrusion force. The machinery equipment also includes additional forging and trimming machines as well as induction heating furnaces and several milling machines to handle the mechanical finishing.

The aggregates used by the division produce technologically demanding forged products in small batches to meet customer requirements and in accordance with a comprehensive ISO 9001-certified quality assurance system. The highest quality standards are essential for establishing a reputation as a reliable partner – for example, to the aircraft industry.
